Open Heavens Devotional – March 6, 2026: When There Is Light (Part 2) | Enoch Adejare Adeboye

The Open Heavens Devotional for Friday, March 6, 2026, written by Enoch Adejare Adeboye, continues the powerful message titled “When There Is Light (Part 2).” The devotional emphasizes the transforming power of Jesus Christ, who declared in John 8:12 that He is the Light of the world. According to Scripture, anyone who follows Him will not walk in darkness but will possess the light of life.

The central message of the devotional is that light has the power to completely transform everything it touches. Just as sunlight affects every part of the earth when it shines, the light of God impacts every area of a believer’s life. When Jesus—the Light—enters a situation, darkness, confusion, and oppression must give way.

Transformation Through Encounter With Christ

The devotional highlights the story found in Mark 5:2–20, where Jesus encountered a man possessed by many demons. This man lived among tombs, isolated from society, uncontrollable, and tormented by evil spirits. Chains could not restrain him, and people feared him because of his violent behavior.

However, everything changed the moment he encountered Jesus. With a single command, Christ cast out the legion of demons that possessed the man. The man who once lived among graves was soon found sitting, clothed, and in his right mind. His life was completely restored, and Jesus instructed him to return home and tell others about the great things God had done for him.

This story demonstrates that one encounter with the Light of Christ can rewrite a person’s story completely.

Light Turns Mockery Into Testimony

The devotional explains that people are sometimes mocked or defined by their problems. Even after healing, some individuals are remembered by their former struggles. For example, many still refer to Bartimaeus as “blind Bartimaeus,” even though Jesus healed him long ago.

Similarly, believers may face seasons when others question their faith or ask, “Where is your God?” when difficulties arise. Yet, the devotional reminds readers that temporary challenges do not determine a believer’s final outcome.

Biblical Examples of Changed Stories

The message also references Hannah, who endured years of ridicule because she could not have children. Her rival mocked her constantly, and people likely identified her by her barrenness. However, when God answered her prayers and gave her a son, Samuel, her story changed permanently. The woman who once wept in sorrow later sang a song of victory recorded in Scripture.

Another example is Joseph, whose life seemed filled with setbacks—betrayal by his brothers, slavery, and imprisonment. Yet those trials were not the end of his story. God was preparing him for a greater purpose, and Joseph eventually rose to become a leader in Egypt who saved many nations from famine.

These stories demonstrate that what appears to be delay or suffering may actually be part of God’s preparation for greater glory.

The Transforming Nature of Christ’s Light

The devotional concludes with the powerful truth that the light of Christ never leaves a person the way it met them. It does not merely improve lives; it transforms them completely.

One striking example is Paul the Apostle, who once persecuted Christians. After encountering the light of Christ on the road to Damascus, his entire life direction changed. He became one of the greatest messengers of the gospel.
