Open Heavens Devotional March 3, 2026 — Sin Is A Reproach (Part 1) | Pastor E.A. Adeboye | AFRiPAN

The Open Heavens Devotional for Tuesday, March 3, 2026 titled “Sin Is A Reproach (Part 1)” presents a sobering yet redemptive truth: sin brings reproach, but repentance restores honor.

Anchored in Romans 6:23“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” — today’s message highlights the spiritual consequences of sin and the mercy available through Christ.

Drawing from John 5:1–15, the devotional recounts the healing of the man who had suffered for 38 years at the pool of Bethesda. After healing him, Jesus later found the man in the temple and warned him:

“Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”

This warning reveals a powerful principle: sin can open the door to affliction and spiritual vulnerability. While not every sickness is caused by sin, Scripture shows that disobedience can remove a person from divine covering and expose them to the forces of darkness.

The devotional further references the story in Mark 2, where a paralyzed man was brought to Jesus. Instead of immediately healing him, Jesus first addressed the root issue:

“Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.”

The lesson is clear — forgiveness often precedes miracles.
Before restoration comes reconciliation.
Before promotion comes purification.
